Ray Lewis isn't going anywhere. Well, technically, he's going from Baltimore to Bristol, but Lewis will remain an intricate part of the NFL storyline in the 2013 season. This time, he won't be making headlines, he'll be analyzing them for ESPN on Sunday NFL Countdown and SportsCenter.
Lewis has developed an infectious and charasmatic manner of communicating, an ability paired with his obvious knowledge of football that should reap rewards for ESPN and it's viewers.
It's no sure thing that Lewis will star on ESPN — the Shaquille O'Neal experiment at TNT was not quite the marriage made in heaven as anticipated — but network heads are excited about what Lewis can bring.
SI spoke with several network executives before the move, and CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus said, "He is a bigger-than-life personality, very articulate and [has] an incredible passion for the game. If Ray Lewis decided to take that same passion and put it into a broadcasting career, I think he would be a terrific studio analyst or, I imagine game analyst, too."
