JR Smith is taking home the award most coveted by towel-wavers and high-five administrators: The Sixth Man Of The Year award. Of course, Smith's role was far more pronounced than a bench warmer, as is the case for every winner of this award. Smith was a catalyst for the New York Knicks offensively and picked up the slack when Carmelo Anthony went down with injury. He came up big with clutch shots and huge dunks while limiting the kind of idiotic behavior that earned himself a selfish reputation.
He's going to play a big role in however the Knicks do in the NBA Playoffs. This award probably feels good after a long season, and might feel even better if it helps pad his checkbook, but his eyes are on a different prize for the time being.
Great news for free agent to be J.R. Smith. He's been named Sixth Man if the Year

JR Smith had a great season. Well deserving of the 6th Man of the Year Award. Woodson played a large part in improving his play. #Knicks
