When asked if a more attractive comeback was Anthony Joshua or Canelo Alvarez, Ward left no doubt.
”I’m going Anthony Joshua. All or nothing.”
Ward competed from 2004 to 2017, retiring with an undefeated record after holding multiple world titles in two weight classes. As an amateur, Ward was decorated, winning a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 2004 Olympics.
He turned professional later that year rising to worldwide prominence upon entering the Super Six World Boxing Classic tournament in 2009. Ward won the WBA (Super) super middleweight title from Mikkel Kessler in the opening group stage announcing his arrival to the professional world stage.
Ward then defeated WBC champion Carl Froch in the tournament final, unifying the titles as well as winning the vacant Ring and lineal titles.

That same year, Ward was named Fighter of the Year by The Ring and the Boxing Writers’ Association of America. He later won The Ring’s Comeback of the Year award in 2016 following a long period of in-activity between 2012 and 2015.
Ward was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2021, his first year of eligibility.
Ward also made a prediction on who he sees winning the Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury bout.
When asked if Joshua beats Fury, Ward’s response was clear.
“Not the Tyson Fury that I’m looking at now at that I’ve been looking at the last two years. Anything can happen, brother, it’s heavyweight boxing but right now, Tyson Fury.”
