Alabama Fires Basketball Coach Anthony Grant

After six seasons, missing the NCAA Tournament in the last three of those, the Alabama Crimson Tide has decided to part ways with their Head men’s basketball coach, Anthony Grant.

Said Alabama AD Bill Battle “We are ultimately judged by wins and losses on the court.” “We haven’t made satisfactory progress in that area.”

With only one NCAA Tournament appearance during his six seasons, and never winning a tournament game, Grant appeared to be on very thin ice, especially after finishing under .500 for the second straight season. To make matters worse, Bruce Pearl was creating a lot of noise at arch-rival Auburn, and no one who yells “Roll Tide!” wants to hear “War Eagle” chanted louder than them.

Grant coached for three seasons at VCU before going to Alabama, where he is most recognized for upsetting the 6th seeeded Duke Blue Devils in the 2007 NCAA Tournament through the leadership and play of current NBA players Eric Maynor and Larry Sanders.
