Adrian Peterson’s Suspension Is Upheld

Today the NFL announced that they are upholding the suspension of Vikings' star running back Adrian Peterson.

In the ruling, appeals officer Harold Henderson stated "I conclude that the player has not demonstrated that the process and procedures surrounding his discipline were not fair and consistent. He was afforded all the protections and right to which he is entitled, and I find no basis to vacate or reduce the discipline."

In response, the NFLPA released the following statement:

"The NFLPA expected this outcome, given the hearing officer's relationship and financial ties to the NFL. The decision itself ignores the facts, the evidence and the collective bargaining agreement. The decision also represented the NFL's repeated failure to adhere to due process and confirms its inconsistent treatment of players. Our union is considering immediate legal remedies."

Peterson has been on the commissioner's exempt list since September 17th after he was arrested for injuring his son. Commissioner Goodell then suspended him for the remainder of the season after he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges on November 4th.

Peterson and the NFLPA are pondering their next move, including taking the case to federal court.
