Adrian Peterson assured the world that he had one more magnificent, Hall of Fame season left in him. When he signed with the New Orleans Saints before the season started, he was going to be the tough yardage, occasional ground-eating force that Sean Payton needed to complement Drew Brees and a usually effective aerial attack.
Petersons first game in New Orleans proved that Peterson had grossly overestimated his worth at age 32 and in the last leg of a career that has amassed almost 12,000 rushing yards and 97 TDs. He was captured giving Payton the business on the sidelines because he wasnt getting any carries.

Adrian Peterson has been traded. Here’s a look at his highlight as a Saint… https://t.co/ziOgkFZpPd
With just 81 yards on 27 carries in four games with the Saints, Petersons Tuesday trade to the Arizona Cardinals is his final blessing from the football gods in a career that has seen glorious success and some tragic circumstances. The common theme is that he always bounces back.
The two teams announced the trade Tuesday, and NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports the Cardinals are sending the Saints a conditional 2018 sixth-rounder in the deal.
“I’m so ecstatic,” Peterson texted NFL Network’s Stacey Dales following the trade. Petersons addition to the Cardinals is a no-brainer consider they have the leagues worst running attack and have lost NFL superstar running back David Johnson for an extended period of time due to an injured wrist.

What went into the #AZCardinals trade for RB Adrian Peterson? Some thoughts… https://t.co/orPiVblHRe
“We are always on the lookout for opportunities to improve our team and we look at this as one of those opportunities,” Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said in a statement provided by the team. “What Adrian has accomplished in this league is well-established. Our need for a spark in our running game right now is also obvious and we are excited to give him the chance to provide that.”
The veteran Cardinals players seem to be all on board with adding AP to the mix.

Today is a good day!!! Welcome to the #BirdGang @AdrianPeterson !!! We got work to do! https://t.co/qDXw4ekyDN
Peterson has had his greatest success with the quarterback under center in an I-formation or traditional single-back formation, so joining Carson Palmer and Bruce Arians and the talented Larry Fitzgerald might be the best thing for Purple Jesus.

Arizonas offensive line is shaky, but Peterson will find a way as long as he has the rock and with the Cardinals just one game behind the NFC West leaders Seattle and the Rams, his arrival couldnt of come at a better time.
