Since his critically acclaimed role in the Sundance award winning film, Fruitvale Station, Newark, New Jersey born actor Michael B. Jordan best known for TV roles on The Wire and Friday Night Lights is now a bonafide movie star. Chosen as a recipient of this year's Hollywood Spotlight Award at the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards, he’s basking in the spotlight of success.
“You win Sundance, you pop up on a lot of peoples' radar. So it's been incredible,” he said in an interview with the Associated Press at People Magazine’s “Ones to Watch” party. “It's a different conversation. Studios, producers, writers, directors — getting to know a lot of people in the industry.”
The 26-year-old is in talks to star in a reboot of Marvel’s Fantastic 4 playing Johnny “The Human Torch” Storm. And a few months ago, tongues were wagging about Sylvester Stallone wanting him to play Apollo Creed’s son in the upcoming Rocky spinoff Creed.
“That's amazing. I can't wait to do it,” he added. “That is definitely is going on." Now that the Creed deal is official, Jordan has moved from blockbuster chatter to the next, as he’s now being considered to star in two, high profile, sci-fi films: JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode 7, and Will Smith’s Independence Day 2.
