Jean Grey’s long-awaited backstory in the X-Men Universe gets its first trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
The video shows the evolution of Grey from a protected, young girl to a confused young woman, starring Sophie Turner. Throughout the trailer we witness Grey, unknowingly and knowingly, causing disasters from car accidents to intentional deaths. At one point, viewers learn that she seeks counsel from Magneto after feeling a level of betrayal from Professor Charles Xavier.
Shes all rage, pain, and its all coming out at once, says Professor X’s voiceover.

20th Century Fox’s YouTube channel revealed their summary of the movie: In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. The film was written and directed by longtime X-Men writer and producer Simon Kinberg, who also penned 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand.
