This year’s NBA All Star Game has gone through a dramatic transformation, with the teams being selected by two superstars regardless of conference affiliation, a move which seems to have excited fans as they get ready to All Star weekend next weekend in LA.
As part of this new process, the captains will also be selecting charities to be beneficiaries of donations by each team. Today, the NBA, LeBron and Steph revealed those charities per the press release below.
Team LeBron has selected After-School All-Stars Los Angeles and Team Stephen has selected Brotherhood Crusade, as the community-based organizations they will play for during the 67th NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 18 (8 p.m. ET) at Staples Center. As previously announced, the winning team will donate $350,000 and the losing team will donate $150,000 to their selected organization. After-School All-Stars Los Angeles provides comprehensive out-of-school programming for more than 8,000 students in need across 52 schools while Brotherhood Crusade works to empower and support underserved youth in South Los Angeles through mentoring, education, health and wellness and leadership programs.
