The A’s Bruce Maxwell made headlines last month when he became the first baseball player to take a knee during the anthem in silent protest over social injustice.

Well yesterday we learned that people are retaliating against him, even in his hometown. According to Maxwell, he was having lunch with a city councilman in his hometown in Alabama when a waiter recognized him and refused to serve him because of his peaceful protest.
MLB’s Bruce Maxwell: Pro-Trump Waiter Wouldn’t Serve Me Over Kneeling Protest | TMZ Sports
Oakland A’s catcher Bruce Maxwell — the only MLB player who took a knee this season — tells TMZ Sports he was confronted by a pro-Trump waiter at an Alabama restaurant who refused to serve him.
Maxwell made it clear what his kneeling was and, more importantly, wasn’t about right after the game in September; but unsurprisingly, the false narrative around the movement started by Colin Kaepernick has put blinders on people.
