Saints running back Mark Ingram will miss the rest of the season after being placed on the injured reserve today.
Ingram hurt his shoulder in a 47-14 defeat against the Washington Redskins in Week 10. The running back gained a career high 1,174 yards from scrimmage, along with six TD’s in 12 games this season. CJ Spiller and Tim Hightower are expected to fill in at running back in Ingram’s absence.
The Saints are sitting at 4-8 in the standings but are mathematically still alive in the weak NFC. They will need to win the rest of their games to have a chance at making the playoffs, which looks highly doubtful without the dynamic Ingram in the backfield.
