Remember when Kendrick Lamar got robbed of the Best Rap Album Grammy? Everyone had something to say, while some understood and others were pissed. Macklemore, who won the award with sidekick Ryan Lewis, even took to Twitter saying he agreed with the criticism, confessing that Kendrick should have won. Other rappers chimed in, like Drake saying it was “wack as f**k.” Maino said he respected it. And now, finally, K-Dot is responding in an interview with Billboard.
"That text surprised me, but Macklemore is a genuine dude," Lamar said, diplomatically. "However it panned out, I wish him much success. He touched people's souls, and no one can take that away. Really, the whole Grammy moment was incredible. Not everyone gets that shot."
What? You thought he was going to destroy Macklemore in a diss song for the ages? You thought it was going to be laced with unnecessary expletives? Nope. And don’t think it’s because hip hop has evolved? Not at all. Just Kendrick.
