Safety Rashad Johnson sat out last week while recovering from losing a piece of his middle finger. Apparently that was a finger-saving decision, because the Cardinals had to pull Johnson from practice after hitting his injured cast hand.
There shouldn't be a rush to get him back on the field, especially with the Cardinals playing well. And even if they weren't, it's bad enough dude lost part of his finger in the first place. Johnson shrugged his shoulders at it, but this is starting to get out of hand (no pun there, I'm serious).
Here's what Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians told FOX Sports’ Alex Marvez and Bill Polian on SiriusXM NFL Radio:
“There’s no telling what germs you’re trapping in there when you ball it up and put the cast on,” Arians said. “The stitches are still there. He could evidently lose more of the digit if he bangs it too much, and with any infection they could have to take more off. We’re going to be careful with it.”
They have to be careful with it. It's not much different than a torn ACL, and you could make the argument this is worse.
