It’s been a little over a week since the Jovan Belcher tragedy and now the NFL is grieving again. Jerry Brown, defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys, was killed in a fatal car crash.
Brown died after the car he was riding in wrecked and flipped on Texas State Highway 114, and then caught fire. The driver, Cowboys teammate Josh Brent, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
“The car traveled about 900 feet after hitting the curb, said police spokesman John Argumaniz. The 25-year-old Brown, an outside linebacker on the Dallas practice squad, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.”
Brown and Brent had a closer bond than most people knew.
The two athletes met in college and formed a close, unshakeable bond which blossomed during their three seasons at the University of Illinois. Milner said Brown was living with Brent during the six weeks he spent with the Cowboys.
"You can't get any tighter than those two," Milner said. "It was the closest family he had was Jerry Brown."
Many will remember Brown as a good dude.
"Jerry's attitude was always good for the team," Ferguson said Sunday. "He was always very positive for the program and very positive for his teammates. Just a good person. Everybody was rooting for him. Everyone looked forward to seeing him play in the NFL."

Overwhelmed with grief, the Dallas Cowboys were victorious against the Cincinnati Bengals 20 -19. Those emotions carried on post game, as well.
"I don't remember crying this much other than maybe the day I was born," defensive lineman Marcus Spears said. "With Josh's situation and Jerry being gone, you felt it."
"The last 24 hours has really been something I've never experienced," Romo said. "It's something I've never experienced, and I think a lot of guys will tell you that. It's just been a roller coaster of emotions.
"It was a very — and still is — a very difficult thing that this football team is dealing with."
