‘A Pack Of Rubbers Would Be A Cheaper Alternative’: Fans Have Plenty To Say About Anthony Edwards Reportedly Being Ordered To Pay $14K In Monthly Child Support For Child He’s Never Met

Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards is one of the most charismatic and engaging players in the NBA. Edwards is a fan favorite because of his explosive, high-flying athleticism, old-school competitive fire, and unfiltered, charismatic personality. Fans and players alike embrace his electrifying play style, humorous media presence, and genuine authenticity.

Off the court the supremely talented Edwards has created unnecessary drama for himself by having multiple children with multiple women. As of Thursday, TMZ reports that Edwards is now on the hook for $14K a month in child support to Alexandria “Ally D” Desroches, and the money is for a son he claims he’s never even met, Desroches has said previously.

Judge Sets Order In Stone With More

TMZ also claimed that court documents in the case show that in addition to child support, the judge ordered Anthony to take out a life insurance policy worth around $2.6 million with Alexandria named as the primary beneficiary and pay Desroches’ legal fees totaling more than $21K.

Desroches and Edwards share a son named Amir, born in October 2023. The docs reportedly note Anthony admitted under oath that he never met his son in person and is not seeking to have any parenting time with the kid. It’s not clear from the TMZ report if it’s describing new developments in the case, as US Weekly reported in May that Edwards was paying some $12,500 a month a child support to Desroches.

Fans Have Plenty To Say About Edwards

In the aftermath of the court’s ruling, plenty of fans took to social media to voice their opinions on the matter.

“At this point a pack of rubbers would be a cheaper alternative,” a critic said.

“He gonna go broke,” one prognosticator predicted.

“This on Ant all day, you can’t be moving this reckless dawg, women ready to get knocked up by a millionaire so they don’t have to work bro wake up,” someone else replied.

“And people want this dude to be the face of the NBA. The woman aside, that’s your kid dude. ‘No intention of meeting’ is genuinely vile behavior when talking about your own,” a fan mentioned.

“He loves all his children he just doesn’t want to meet them,” someone joked.

“Well well well… the cycle continues,” a fan quipped.

Edwards Has Been A Busy Man

The NBA offseason has been filled with plenty of things concerning Edwards. He made major headlines this offseason by quietly marrying his longtime girlfriend, Shannon Jackson, on July 16. The two share a 2-year-old daughter.

Edwards secured a legal resolution in a Georgia child support case involving Ayesha Howard (mother to his daughter Aubri’), where a judge ordered monthly payments set to $3,222.

Against that backdrop, the Wolves traded for former Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball, creating a pairing with Edwards to form one of the most dynamic backcourts in the league featuring the No. 1 and No. 3 overall picks from the 2020 NBA draft.

Edwards Had Career Year

In 2025-26, Edwards averaged a career-high 28.8 points per game. He also reached career-highs in field goal percentage at 48.9 percent and 39.9 percent from three-point range. Edwards set the Timberwolves scoring record for career 30-point games. To top it off he took home the MVP Award of the All-Star Game, scoring 32 points in the event.
