“Done Deal” | Tank Davis And Ryan Garcia “Confirm” They Are Fighting Each Other Next

Boxing is a sport of timing and inches, and when you see the culmination of trash talk, availability, and fan demand coalesce, you usually have the makings of a fight. Now two of the most popular young boxers are signaling that they are getting ready to fight each other and get closer to figuring out who the top lightweight or super-lightweight is in the world.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis and “King” Ryan Garcia both jumped on Twitter and posted a simple affirmation, “Done” and “Done Deal,” both with the side eye emoji at the end of the post. The tweets came within minutes of each other, literally five. The news comes on the heels of significant fights falling through for 2022, like the all-British heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua and the highly anticipated battle for welterweight supremacy between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence, Jr.

The two undefeateds in Garcia, 23-0 (19 KOs), and Davis, 27-0 (25 KOs), appear to want the fight to happen, and it is up to their respective representatives to seal the deal. Hopefully, the tweets indicate that it was in fact “done.”

There has not been an official fight announcement or date, but the trash talk back and forth between the two culminated recently when they saw each other in a nightclub. The encounter was testy, and Garcia went live on social media to explain the happenstance meeting.

“What’s funny, guys? I actually did see Tank in the club. He’s a tough guy. He’s very low-key in his hoodie. I went up to his table with me and this guy (friend he is driving with during the video), and we said, ‘Yo, are we going to make this fight happen?’” Garcia says in the video.

“I guess he got offended by that and got all worked up. I was like, ‘Yo, what are you on about, man? Ain’t no respect here?’ He responded with, ‘Nah, there’s no respect here.’ I said, ‘Oh, it’s like that.’ Then he grabbed my chain, but I wasn’t worried about it. There are so many security guards there. I knew he wasn’t going to take my chain or do anything. He just wanted to seem tough. So I said, ‘Wow, it’s like that, huh?’

“Then he responded again, ‘Yeah, it’s like that.’ Then he let go. He had to let go. Then I said something to him. She knows what I said. I’m not going to repeat it on Live. Just know in the fight, that’s where it really happens.”

Garcia went on to affirm his belief that he beats Davis and his assertion that Davis acts like a tough guy outside of the ring.

“Outside the ring, you can act tough all you want. Inside the ring, it all changes. It definitely does. I’m not with acting tough. I only act tough when I need to be. I don’t need to flaunt that.”

Davis fights under his GTD Promotions and the Premier Boxing Champions banner. He came up under Mayweather Promotions and continues to work with them even after a somewhat contentious relationship with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Garcia fights under Golden Boy Promotions and is the star of their stable after the current face of boxing, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, left to become a free agent. The fight would be the biggest of Garcia’s career and would get the world closer to who is the top dog in the lighter weight classes.
