Tragedy has struck the family of Kansas City Chiefs starting cornerback L’Jarius Sneed as his brother was killed in Louisiana on Friday.
Sneed missed the 48-9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders as the team added him to their injury report on Saturday. The Chiefs also tweeted that he was questionable for Sunday’s game, citing “non-injury related reasons (personal).
The theme of the @Chiefs season has been lifting each other up. When the defense was struggling, the offense lifted. When the offense was down, the D was there. My Brother’s Keeper
Sneed remained in Louisiana on Sunday to be with his family. Reportedly, Patrick Mahomes paid for a private jet for Sneed to fly home.

“Such a tragic situation,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said at the post-game press conference, “and as a brotherhood and as an organization, we’re going to support our brothers.
“I thought our guys played hard for them today. We got the win. I’m just praying for him and his family because it’s a tough deal.”

Little Brother’s Loss
According to reports, T’Qarontarion “TQ” Harrison lost his life Friday in Minden, Louisiana. He is credited with raising Sneed as a child.
Angela Washington, 47, was arrested and has been charged with second-degree homicide in the northern Louisiana region. Second-degree murder charges usually indicate a non-premeditated death. Reportedly, Harrison was stabbed by Washington.
According to reports, local authorities couldn’t provide a motive for the incident. However, according to the Minden Police Department, the two had allegedly gotten into an argument at home, which then turned physical.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said the 32-year-old “died from a single stab wound to his back, that punctured his lung.” Reportedly, a large kitchen knife was recovered.

A Fighter Until The End
According to Cropper, Harrison tried to drive himself to a local hospital. However, he crashed his vehicle into the medical center before being transported to another hospital. However, following emergency surgery, Harrison died at Ochsner LSU Health Hospital.
Last month, Sneed told The Kansas City Star that he credits Harrison for raising him while their parents were in prison. Harrison changed diapers, ironed clothes and walked his brothers to school at only nine years old.
Additionally, according to The Kansas City Star, the late Harrison referred to 24-year-old Sneed as “my little dude” and that their relationship was “closer than most brothers because of what we went through in life.”

Sneed’s Impact
Sneed has played more snaps this season (714) than any other Chiefs defensive player.
The Chiefs adjusted to life without Sneed with No. 3 cornerback Rashad Fenton returning. In a Week 11 game against the Dallas Cowboys, Fenton had injured his knee and did not play in last week’s game against the Denver Broncos.
Additionally, the Chiefs have two first-round draft picks in Mike Hughes and DeAndre Baker. They also elevated Josh Jackson from the practice squad and into uniform on Sunday.

Playing For Sneed
“L’Jarius, our hearts go out to him,’ Chiefs coach Andy Reid said post-game press conference. “Great kid, great player. It’s a tough deal. Our organization stepped up and got everybody where they needed to be to go through the grieving process.”

Sneed was a star player at Minden High School. He also played at Louisiana Tech, switching from wide receiver to defensive back. He was second-team All-Conference USA, then, following his senior season, Kansas City selected him in the fourth round of the 2020 draft.
