Claressa Shields Thinks Tyron Woodley Beat Jake Paul

The self-professed GWOAT, Claressa Shields, thinks that Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley defeated Jake Paul.

The undisputed champ and two-time Olympic gold medalist took to Twitter to proclaim her feelings and took on the trolls while she was at it.

Jake “The Problem Child” Paul continued his rapid ascent within sport’s entertainment on Sunday night. Paul scored a split-decision win over the former UFC Champion in front of a sold-out crowd of 16,000 fans at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio, live on SHOWTIME PPV.

The judges scored 78-74 and 77-75 for Paul and 77-75 for Woodley.

After weeks of buildup, including an eventful fight week, Paul and Woodley swapped the verbal jabs for accurate punches, and Woodley was a clear step-up from Paul’s previous three opponents, posing an actual threat for the first time in Paul’s career.

The 39-year-old Woodley made his pro boxing debut against Paul, landing the most meaningful punch of the night in the fourth round, rocking Paul with an overhand right that sent Paul against the ropes.

However, many saw Paul as more active out-landing Woodley 71-52 in total punches, while Woodley out-landed Paul in power punches 41-35.

Shields attended the bout in person, taking pictures with Woodley and WBC/WBO Featherweight World Champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano, who successfully defended her titles against the super bantamweight world champion Yamileth Mercado.

Shields made her transition from boxing to MMA, recently fighting for the Professional Fighter’s League on June 10th, scoring a third-round TKO over Brittney Elkin.

Whether Shields is right regarding Woodley’s performance is up for debate, but the intrigue around cross-promotional sports stars is ever-increasing, and Shields is entirely part of that narrative.
