Once Dangeruss cooled off a bit, the top spot has belonged to Patrick Mahomes II.
He just goes out and does what he does weekly, which is make plays in the clutch. His late drive and subsequent touchdown pass led the Chiefs to a (17-14) come from behind victory over the pesky Falcons on Sunday.
The win wrapped up homefield advantage and the lone first-round bye in the AFC for the defending Super Bowl champions at (14–1). They’ve won 23 of their last 24 games dating back to last season. Now let’s see if he can take home his second league MVP in three seasons.

Russell Wilson began the season on fire and was the MVP favorite early on. And then he hit a bit of a rough patch but still persevered and as they always say, “Cream Rises To The Top”. His defense and running game which was nonexistent early on this season seems to have picked up and finally given him some much-needed support.
I think it’s a shame he’s never garnered one single MVP vote. I don’t think another team more dependent on their QB than the Seahawks. That’s a (6-10) team at best without the wizardry of RW3 weekly.
Lamar Jackson has returned from his bout with COVID-19 playing the best football he’s played this season. He’s led the Ravens to four consecutive wins and another over the hapless Bengals on Sunday clinches a playoff berth for the dangerous “Charm City Birds,” a squad no one in the AFC will want to play come January.
His passing looks to have improved, but the true test will come in the postseason.
Deshaun Watson has played well this season but it just hasn’t amounted to many wins for a team devoid of talent because of bad decisions by the previous regime. Watson is a gamer and he’ll never make excuses, but just imagine if he still had “Nuk Hopkins” aka DeAndre as his top pass catcher. For his sake, I hope he gets a guy like Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy next season to tap all the way into his untapped potential.

Kyler Murray has been very good at times this season and then very average at best some other times. This past weekend he was not good in a bad (20-12) home loss to the “let’s play spoiler” Niners.
That loss really crippled their hopes for a postseason bid. To make matters worse Murray was injured and his status for the season-ending must win versus the Rams is in question. He’s still a diminutive dynamo and if they get in with him at the helm they’ll throw fear into any opponent.
Honorable Mention:
Teddy Bridgewater led the Panthers into Washington and left with a (20-13) win which prevented the WFT from clinching their joke of a division aka “The NFC Least”. Now he’ll look to improve on this season as they look to be better than a five-win team in 2021.

Dwayne Haskins was awful in his team’s loss to the Panthers and was cut on Monday by the WFT. Ending a tumultuous, two-year relationship in DC.
Cam Newton was benched in Monday Night’s 38-9 debacle at the hands of the very dangerous and talented Buffalo Bills. Newton has been bad just about all season and I think we’ve seen the last of him in a Patriots uniform and maybe the NFL unless Ron Rivera decides to bring him to DC next season.
