Colin Powell, who served in the Bush administration from 2001 to 2005, spoke at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday giving his endorsement of Joe Biden for the President of the United States. But he is not the only member of the GOP who has jumped ship under this current president.
In Powell’s opinion as a soldier and also former Secretary of State, he believes that Biden will best serve the nation with a clear understanding of national security based on his experience as a public servant and elected official.
"Joe Biden will be a president we will all be proud to salute," says former Secretary of State Colin Powell, a Republican. “…He will trust our diplomats and our intelligence community, not the flattery of dictators and despots.” #DemConvention https://t.co/OxTVY6ReGC pic.twitter.com/6YblDRIXx1

The South Bronx native said, “Joe Biden will be a president we will all be proud to salute.”
He continued, “With Joe Biden in the White House, you will never doubt that he will stand with our friends and stand up to our adversaries—never the other way around.”
One of the biggest critiques throughout the night leaned on the notion that the president has made enemies out of allies who have been by America’s side for decades and has doted and loved up on some of our enemies that have sworn to see our demise.
“The values I learned growing up in the South Bronx and serving in uniform were the same values that Joe Biden’s parents instilled in him in Scranton, Pennsylvania,” Powell said. “I support Joe Biden for the presidency of the United States because those values still define him, and we need to restore those values to the White House.”
“Today, we are a country divided, and we have a president doing everything in his power to make it that way and keep us that way,” Powell said. “What a difference it will make to have a president who unites us, who restores our strength and our soul.”
Powell was not the only folk to reach across the aisle. The wife of the late Sen. John McCain stopped by to speak to Biden’s ability to work toward progress even working with people with different perspectives to achieve the best results for the nation.

Cindy McCain spoke about how close Biden and her husband were over the many years that they served on Capitol Hill together.
“It was a friendship that shouldn’t have worked,” she narrated over a video. “John, a former Navy pilot, just released from a North Vietnamese prison. Joe, a young senator from Delaware.”
The video contained archival footage and photographs from the 1970s, showing a young McCain and Biden working for the people even back then. Though two different parties, McCain actually served as a Senate Liaison for the now Democratic presidential nominee.
McCain’s voice is heard stating that he used to carry Biden’s bags during overseas trips but, the former vice-president wise-cracked as only a good friend could, “The son of a gun never carried my bags … He was supposed to carry my bags, damn it, but he never carried my bags.”
Other GOP members rocking with the DNC this year are as follows: former Ohio Governor John Kasich, Quibi CEO Meg Whitman and former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman (R) and former Rep. Susan Molinari (R-N.Y.). The Trump administration has shrugged their appearances off as no big deal.
The “Republicans” that the DNC trotted out are Hillary supporters, a sore loser, and woman who made millions lobbying for Putin.
They think that *helps* Joe Biden?@realDonaldTrump won handily without the Never-Trumpers in 2016, and he’ll win without them in 2020!
