Actress Zoe Saldana has been criticized unmercifully for a movie role that isn’t even out yet. Ever since it was announced last year that she would play Nina Simone in an upcoming biopic of the legendary singer, backlash about whether the optics fit (basically whether she has the right complexion) have been loud and clear.
Well, Saldana has finally had enough, and decided to pushback on her critics.
”What kept me from getting stressed and being hurt by the negative comments is that I’m doing it for my sisters and my brothers and I don’t care who tells me I’m not this or I’m not that. I know who I am and I know what Nina Simone means to me.”
