The Giants are willing to let Eli Manning play without an extension in the final year of his contract despite the fact that he’s coming off one of his better statistical seasons.
Manning had a 63.1% completion percentage to go with 4,410 yards and 30 touchdowns. Not too shabby. The Giants have been stuck in limbo thanks in part due to injuries, poor drafting, and overpaid free agents. The Giants are still overpaying for free agents as they recently did with Dwayne Harris and George Selvie.
The Giants front office has clearly been frustrated with their lack of success as John Mara stated
There were obviously some star players out there, but for the most part I thought it was a mediocre free-agent class, and I think a lot of guys got paid more money than maybe they would have in other years because there was a lot of cap room out there. I think the guys who we got will help us, but we still have a long way to go.
They obviously want to see the two-time Super Bowl QB dial up another playoff run before they commit more money to him.
