Butler, Creighton and Xavier will join the seven Big East Catholic schools (Georgetown, Villanova, Marquette, St. John's, Providence, Seton Hall and DePaul) to form the new Big East basketball conference. The league also announced that a broadcasting deal with Fox has been completed.

Kendall Gill swung on a colleague that disagreed with his analysis. Gill has been doing pregame and postgame coverage of Chicago Bulls games for CSN Chicago, and he disagreed with a goaltending call on Joakim Noah in Monday night's overtime loss to the Denver Nuggets. The next day, Big Ten Network analyst Tim Doyle voiced his disagreement with Gill's disagreement with the call, and it eventually came to fisticuffs. CSN suspended Gill while the network looks into the incident.
