Geno Smith has been the subject of a controversial NFL scouting report from Pro Football Weekly's Nolan Nawrocki.
The piece haphazardly projects Smith as a cross between Akili Smith and Aaron Brooks, says he's "not a student of the game, does not command respect from teammates and cannot inspire," is "not committed or focused" and "cannot handle hard coaching." It goes further in saying Smith is a "gimmick, overhyped product of the system lacking the football savvy, work habits and focus to cement a starting job and could drain energy from a QB room. Will be overdrafted and struggle to produce against NFL defensive complexities."
You could argue that a draft prospect evaluation wouldn't need that kind of hyperbole, even if it was true. But the potential first-round pick out of West Virginia who led the nation with 42 touchdown passes last season shook it off recently by saying that it was "untrue in all things."
