VIDEO: Daniel Kaluuya, Jodie Turner-Smith Star In ‘Queen And Slim’

Love’s on the run in a new trailer for the new Lena Waithe, Melina Matsoukas-helmed project.

If you were watching the 2019 BET Awards last night, you might’ve caught a glimpse of the new Bonnie and Clyde like visual crime drama,  Queen and Slim from producer Lena Waithe and making her directorial debut, Melina Matsoukas.

The film stars ‘Get Out’ actor Daniel Kaluuya and actress Jodie Turner-Smith, who’s best known for her film Nightflyers.

The film is about a couple (Kaluuya and Turner-Smith) on their first date. After they are pulled over for a minor traffic infraction, the situation escalates—a story that is all too familiar. The incident ends tragically after Kaluuya kills the police officer in self-defense. Terrified and in fear for their lives, the pair—one a retail employee and the other a criminal defense lawyer—are now forced to go on the run.

But the incident is captured on video and goes viral, and the two unintentionally become a symbol of trauma, terror, grief, and pain for people across the country.

During their journey, they forge a connection and powerful love that reveals their shared humanity that shapes their lives as they know it.
