Victor Cruz is no longer a jobless free agent singing the Big Blues. Cruz has agreed to a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears, the team announced Thursday. The veteran pass-snatcher confirmed the move in an Instagram post, saying he’s headed to Chicago after seven celebrity seasons and a Super Bowl 46 championship with the New York Giants.
Cruz is just 30 years old but has lost a step after battling injuries and missing the 2014 and 2015 seasons before returning last season to lukewarm, success, which hes attributed to being purposely left out of the Giants offensive plans.
It didn’t take long for Cruz to find a home as every NFL team is in need of a deep threat and speedy slot receivers who can turn a short hit into a big lick. It remains to be seen whether or not Cruz still has the skills to pay the bills as a No 1 option, but he’s always been the underdog, so this is nothing new for him and if he can stay healthy he will certainly contribute to the Bears offense
