After receiving his second DUI in less than a year, Denver Nuggets are weighing their options with point guard Ty Lawson.
With reports of them already in trade talks with the Sacramento Kings, the Nuggets are now leaning towards out-right waiving the troubled player who has been involved in a handful of incidents since being drafted by the team out of the University of North Carolina in 2009.
Lawson was arrested early Tuesday morning after officers noticed him speeding on state Route 101 in Hollywood, California. He was booked and released on $5000 bail. This is his second DUI of the year but also fourth since being in Denver. This history with alcohol also stems back to 2008 when he plead guilty to underage drinking while he was a star player for the Tar Heels basketball team.
Denver is probably thinking long and hard about the next steps moving forward in regards to Lawson, who has 2-years, $25 million left on his contract. There is some hope for the Nuggets asrookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay has been lights out at the Las Vegas Summer League this year. Wowing spectators with his skill set, many are excited to see if he can carry this momentum over into his rookie season and possibly step up if the organization severs ties with Lawson.
