Tino Martinez stepped down as hitting coach of the Miami Marlins amid allegations of verbal abuse against players. Martinez even acknowledged grabbing rookie Derek Dietrich by the jersey in the batting cage earlier this season.
Other players accused him of verbal abuse, but owner Jeff Loria wanted to keep Martinez, who was in his first year of coaching. This is a horrible baseball team, and it seems like it could be frustrating to put up with day after day. It doesn't excuse inappropriate behavior, but building frustration within the organization is understandable at this point.
It was interesting that Martinez said he didn't anticipate these allegations becoming public, and that once they did, it was right for him to step down.
