Tiger Woods' downward spiral has turned the14-time PGA Tour majors champion into an easy target for scratch golfers and writers alike. The latest individual to take aim at golf’s sitting duck is 84-year-old Golf Digest writer Dan Jenkins.
Woods and Jenkins have never been on the best of terms and as a result, Woods and Jenkins have never sat down for a one-on-one.
Consequently, in the latest issue of Golf Digest, Jenkins decided to pen a satirical one-one-one with Woods that appeared to take pleasure in his career low points as exemplified by his choice of possible locations for his faux-Tiger conversation.
Via Golf Digest:
I insisted on picking the location and told Tiger I would rule out the fire hydrant but would still pick one of the places where he'd spent the past six years not winning another major.
My first choice was the greenside bunker on No. 6 at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. Why? Because it was the hole where Tiger suffered the only bad break I ever saw him get in a major while he was in contention.
The lie in that bunker in the final round of the 2012 British Open was so impossible he might as well have tried to play out while lying on his belly and using a pool cue. He came away with a shocking triple-bogey 7 and tied for third place. To my mind, it was the highlight of his six-year slump.
Jenkins' satire also quipped about Woods' bad tipping and painted him as a backstabber who enjoys firing employees and betraying friends.
In a piece published on Derek Jeter's Players Tribune, Woods unleashed a polemic against Jenkins' piece and specifically pointed out one particular section of Jenkins' piece.
Dan: “Why haven’t you fired Steiny, by the way? You’ve fired everybody else …”
Tiger: “I’ll probably get around to it. I like to fire people …”
Dan: “In many cases, tips are a part of their salary.”
Tiger: “So let ‘em go find a better job.”
Dan: “Marko (O’Meara) was your best friend in golf at one time.”
Tiger: “I’m sorry. I can’t place him. Did he play the tour?”
Jenkins responded with a simple tweet.
My next column for Tiger: defining parody and satire. I thought I let him off easy: http://t.co/E7e9imSKwO

It could be worse 4 #TigerWoods. James Franco and Seth Rogen could be plotting to kill him in theatres this Christmas. #FreePlug #DanJenkins
