Following the success of "Scandal", ABC will be bringing more programming featuring black actresses in leading roles to the network. "Scandal" is scheduled to return to the network along with Viola Davis’ “How to Get Away with Murder” premiering this fall.
Like "Scandal," “How to Get Away with Murder” is being produced by Shonda Rhimes. The premise of the series centers on Davis’ character, a law professor who gets tangled up in a murder plot that could shake up things up at the university where she works.
Another series starring actress Tracey Ellis Ross will also air on ABC. Ross will star as the wife of comedian actor Anthony Anderson in the series “Black-ish”. Anderson’s character is a father of four, concerned that his children have forgotten their black heritage. The series will premiere September 24th.
And a series with rapper Eve is also in the works for ABC. Eve, who recently wed entrepreneur and race car driver Maximillion Cooper, is developing a romantic comedy about interracial relationships loosely based on her life. In the series, Eve plays a successful woman whose life gets turned upside down when she falls in love with a white man who is a father of three and is less successful than she is. Eve, is currently stepmother to Cooper’s four children by his ex-wife. Eve and Cooper will serve as executive producers of the series along with the show’s writers Hunter Covington and Stacy Traub. A premiere date for the series has not yet been set
"Scandal" will makes its return to ABC on September 25th.
