“The Offseason: Kevin Durant” Comes To HBO

This fall HBO will let the world see exactly what makes Kevin Durant tick through the channel's latest sports programming offering "THE OFFSEASON: KEVIN DURANT".

The unscripted special follows Durant from May 31st until he reported to training camp in late September. The concept was created by Kevin Durant, Jamie Patricof and Rich Kleinman (Durant’s agent). The show will be executive produced by Durant, Patricof, Kleinman, Juan Perez, and Shawn “Jay Z” Carter. The directors of this latest HBO sports production will be Brendan and Emmett Malloy known largely for making memorable music videos. During taping, cameras and microphones were embedded with the 26 year old superstar for 5 months.

The show will feature Durant’s transition to the offseason and will feature him practicing, stepping away from USA basketball, tending to his brand commitments as well as exploring his downtime. It should be an interesting look at one of the most exciting NBA super stars in one of the smallest television markets. THE OFFSEASON takes an honest and unfiltered look at what happens to one of the biggest names in the game once the final buzzer sounds at the end of a grueling NBA season. After moving to Los Angeles for the summer, Durant is consumed with keeping his game razor-sharp, making the incredibly tough decision of stepping away from USA Basketball, tending to his business partner and brand commitments, appearing at camps, and still finding time to rest his body and mind before returning to OKC to lead the Thunder as they prepare for the 2014-2015 season.

“This is an exciting partnership, and we are delighted to work with an exceptional individual like Kevin Durant,” says Ken Hershman, president, HBO Sports. “He has a magnetic personality that enables fans to connect with him far beyond the hardwood and we look forward to a very revealing program.”

“Working with HBO on this project was an exciting opportunity, and I want to thank the film crews, producers, directors and everyone involved,” says Durant. “The project allowed me to show my fans the work that is put in on and away from the court when the cameras are off us. With THE OFFSEASON now in the wraps, I look forward to taking all the work that people will see happens in the summer months to the court in the regular season with my teammates and the Thunder.”

"THE OFFSEASON: KEVIN DURANT" debuts on HBO on Tuesday, November 4th at 10pm est.
