Ben Gordon is the proverbial tree falling in a forest. In his prime, Gordon was capable of putting up 20 points a night. The years have not been good to him though.
In 19 games this season, the Charlotte Bobcats 30-year-old guard was averaging a career-low 5.2 points per game and reached those numbers in horribly inefficient fashion. He shot 34 percent from the field, an abysmal 27 percent from behind the arc and as a result, he was seldom used.
It’s no surprise then that the Charlotte Bobcats waived their undersized 2-guard on Sunday. Gordon's been on the trade block since a confrontation with former coach Mike Dunlap, but after the Bobcats were unable to cobble together a trade involving Gordon Team Jordan decided to part ways with Gordon.
However, players waived after March 1 are ineligible to appear on playoff rosters which means that unlike the newest Chicago Bull, Jimmer Fredette, Gordon is out of work. Lottery teams aren't going to waste their time with him and the he can't appear on playoff rosters so this may be last we've seen of Gordon this season. What this means for the remainder of his NBA career is ambiguous.
It’s not all bad. Gordon will continue collecting the remainder of his $12.4 million salary. Be afraid Kemba Walker. This could be your future.
