Roy Halladay died in a plane crash in the Gulf of Mexico off of Florida, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department confirmed. The two-time Cy Young Award-winning pitcher who threw a perfect game during the 2010 season and a no-hitter that postseason, retired from baseball nearly four years ago.

Blue Jays and Phillies great Roy Halladay died today in a plane crash in the Gulf of Mexico, according to Pasco County (Fla.) Sheriff Dept.
Halladay, an eight-time All-Star with 203-105 record and 3.38 ERA during his 16-year career with the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies, recently received his pilot’s license.
