Tony Dungy Goes In On Josh McDaniels For Dissing Colts

Yesterday the Indianapolis Colts should have been welcoming Josh McDaniels to the team as their new head coach. Instead, McDaniels backed out of the deal and elected to stay with the Patriots, leaving the Colts, and all of the assistant coaches who were following McDaniels, hanging in the wind.

Needless to say, the Colts and their fans were ticked off and felt like they were hoodwinked and bamboozled. Recently that anger came spewing out from a man who rarely goes all out with displays of emotions, former Colts Super Bowl winning head coach, Tony Dungy.

Haven’t read the article but I can tell you there is NO excuse big enough to justify this. It’s one thing to go back on your word to an organization. But having assistant coaches leave jobs to go with you then leave them out to dry is indefensible. For COMFORT??

Those who came out in defense of McDaniels weren’t safe from Dungy’s “wrath” either.

That’s very sad Adam. When is it “good” for someone to go back on their word? We’re not talking about simply changing your mind. Everyone know how the hiring system works. Kyle Shanahan, Dan Quinn, many others had the same system. Whoever said that has the wrong values in life!

“You make those decisions before you say I Do,” Dungy said. “Don’t get married start a family then say I changed my mind. He didn’t sign the contract but he said I Do. That is common decency and integrity. You don’t do that to the families of your peers.”

Some proposed the idea that this was Bob Kraft’s doing, even going so far as to suggest that he was sticking it to the Colts for the Deflategate scandal. But Dungy shot down that angle and put the blame sorely on McDaniels.

“This is all on Josh McDaniels. Hes a grown man and has to take responsibility for his decisions, said Dungy. I can tell you in the football coaching community its not even close to being acceptable.

Coach Dungy is playing no games. McDaniels better hope that the next few games against the Colts are in Gillette Stadium.
