Tiger Woods Is Back On Top, Wins 2018 Tour Championship

It finally happened. Tiger Woods finally got back to the mountaintop by winning the 2018 tour championship. This is Woods first win since 2013, bring him to a grand total of 80 PGA Tour title wins.

There was little drama as he cruised to Sunday’s win, which topped off his comeback from personal trials and tribulations and career-threatening back injuries.

In the 1,874 days since Tiger Woods’ last win: 239 PGA TOUR events held 119 different players won on PGA TOUR 44 official worldwide starts 9 missed cuts 4 back surgeries

Woods won in workmanlike fashion, as he birdied the first hole at East Lake Golf Club, then never let anyone get closer than two shots as he captured his first victory in more than five years.

Considering Tigers public life has seen highs and many lows since his last major win, its great to finally see him back in the winners circle and returning Golf to must-watch status once again in the process.

“This is going to be up there with one of the better accomplishments I have had,” Woods said about the possibility of winning Sunday. “Just considering where I’ve been, what I’ve had to dig through and fight through. The amount of help I had to have to get to this point. My body was a wreck. Had to battle through it. Not knowing what was on the other side. Didn’t now if I’d be able to compete at this level. I was just hoping for a better lifestyle. It’s been a very evolving kind of feeling and journey.”

He parred the last hole to shoot 1-over-par 70 and beat Billy Horschel by two strokes, and now trails Sam Snead, who won 82 times, for the most victories in PGA Tour history.
