LaVar Ball has been talking about how his sons would eventually take the NBA by storm for a little over a year. In fact, he became a media personality before he decided to start practicing the art of strategically shutting the hell up.
Though young LiAngelo Ball did not play at UCLA because of a highly-publicized shoplifting incident in China, he did put in some work overseas in a low-level pro league in Lithuania. Yes, he played against adults who were professionals. No, he did not play against the very best competition that league had to offer.
However, if you can ball, you can ball, right? Well, apparently the Los Angeles Lakers don’t think he can ball at all, y’all.

The New York Times’ Marc Stein is reporting that there is “extreme pessimism” about the likelihood of the younger Ball brother becoming a Los Angeles Laker after a 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 workouts at the Lakers facility yesterday. LiAngelo started six of the 14 games he played in for Vytautas Prienu, averaging 12.6 points per game while shooting 42 percent from the field.

At 6-foot-5 inches tall and 230 pounds, Ball would likely be a guard in the NBA if drafted. However, even if he’s not drafted there are still plenty of other options on the table for him to get into the league including free agency and playing overseas another year or two before attempting to get picked up again in a year or so.
