The Hunt Is On, And Odell Beckham Jr. Is The Prey

Josh Norman told Odell Beckham Jr. back in August of 2016 that the New York Giants blonde bombshell was a target. How could he not be?

As much as we respect his extraordinary skills, OBJ has way too much in-game rap for cats, hes about as flamboyant as they come and he loves him some him. His brawl with Norman two seasons ago is still a classic and vivid in the minds of NFL fans.

It was like a heavyweight fight with multiple rounds, knockdowns and language – in the word’s of Q-Tip -“funkier than ya grandmas draws.”

The infamous Boat Ride, days before a 38-13 blowout Wild Card loss to the Green Bay Packers and blowing off practice in May to hang with Iggy Azalea has added to the frustrations, and in some cases, animosity that certain players have towards him.

Beckhams quest for the cameras has rubbed some NFL bounty hunters the wrong way. And they wasted no time letting him know what to expect this pre-season. Luckily for OBJ and the Super Bowl-seeking Giants, they dodged a huge injury threat during Monday nights preseason game against the Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Briean Boddy-Calhoun, a second-year defensive back mashed Beckham Jr. with a low hit to the knee and the Giants star receiver, who wants to be the highest paid player in the league, was writhing in pain. He had to limp off the field and then he collapsed in the tunnel later on.

Injury Update: Odell Beckham Jr. suffered an ankle sprain #NYGvsCLE

It looked pretty bad at first and borderline dirty, but it is a legal hit by NFL rules. The Giants players weren’t happy about it at all.

I said he was wrong for what he did, Giants All-Pro safety Landon Collins told The Post.  He said, It is what it is.

Im gonna say it just like this, I couldnt have a teammate next to me playing that way. I cant condone it. Its nothing I seek. He had the opportunity to go out and make a different route. Thats how I feel about it.

The hit, it looked unorthodox, if that makes any sense, safety Nat Berhe told The Post. Thats all Im gonna say about that. Theres a target area you shoot for. I personally never go that low, we do have families and kids and stuff like that. I dont know. Hopefully the guy makes a better decision the next time.

Different players around the NFL tweeted their disdain for the play. Arian Foster wasn’t feeling the hit.

most players follow that unwritten rule to take care of each other w those cheap shots.

Beckham was smiling and being very sarcastic in the postgame interview. He said of the hit Im not really the judge, its just football in my opinion, but hey .

What else can he say but hey? He definitely made his bed. A player has a choice as to how he wants to conduct himself on and off the field. Outside of his teammates, Beckham Jr. isn’t really trying to make any friends which isn’t a bad thing.

The manner in which he throws his success up in his opponent’s face has led to his current dangerous state of existence. Beckham knows he is on the NFLs most hunted list and it’s what fuels his drive to be the greatest.

No one should be the target of an assault on the football field, but Giants fans have to understand that with OBJs history of embellished bravado, there isn’t a defensive back in the world that is going to cut him slack or go the safe route when trying to make a play on him.
