Meek Mill Should Be Home Soon

It looks as if Meek Mills is coming home.

The minor probation violation case that quickly morphed into a major prison situation for the Philly-born rap star has wreaked of corruption, mishandlings, allegations of requested personal favors from the presiding judge and cold-blooded conspiracy from the beginning.

On Wednesday The Philadelphia District Attorneys Office has submitted a filing to Mills lawyers stating that there is a strong showing of likelihood of his conviction being reversed, in whole or in part.

Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner also didnt oppose the rappers move for bail.

This comes after retired Philadelphia Police Officer Reginald Graham is accused of lying about Mills 2007 arrest. As the facts of the case started trickling in, it was uncovered that Grahams name was on a DA’s office list of crooked cops.

We are very pleased with the District Attorneys filing today stating that he is not opposing Meeks immediate release on bail, and that there is a strong likelihood that Meeks conviction will ultimately be reversed in whole or in part. We look forward to his immediate release by the court on bail in light of this development, said Joe Tacopina, Mill’s lawyer.

I would like to thank the Philadelphia District Attorneys office for carefully evaluating my sons matter and not opposing the request for bail. The fact that Roberts entire conviction could be overturned is a blessing and I pray that God gives Judge Brinkley the wisdom to make the right decision and allow my son to return home to his family. I truly believe justice will prevail, said Kathy Williams, Mills mother.

The blatant aggressive nature of the state made Meeks situation feel very personal. It had racial undertones and excessive punishment all too familiar to black men in this country when facing the judicial system.  The fact that Mill was a celebrity didnt help his situation at all. The fact that he was a young Black male from the hood with past failures and a future written in gold only made jealous Philly PD more hungry to incarcerate him again.

Last November, Mill was sentenced to two to four years in state prison for probation violations on a nearly 10-year-old gun charge.  On November 13, Colin Kaepernick tweeted that Meeks case shows the urgent need for criminal justice reform. That same day, Rick Ross and Philadelphia basketball legend Julius Erving led a protest demanding his sentence be overturned.

Since his incarceration, fans, fellow celebrities and concerned humanitarians from all over the world have turned the hashtag #FreeMeekMill into a global movement and the resounding support he has received from people of all ethnicities has shined a scorching light of doubt  on Phillys judicial system, the characters that wield power and the corruption that Mill is clearly a victim of.

Now, it appears that justice will be served and Mill will be able to continue his successful musical career. Thats also great news for his fans and the people who thought enough about his personal plight to keep his name and situation in the public eye.
