Jalen Ramsey’s sensational cornerback play has drawn comparisons to the greatest cover corner to ever do it, Neon Deion Sanders. Deion loved to be noticed and he talked his share of trash in his own way, but he was a little cooler, calmer and smarter than young Ramsay, who made a basic playoff mistake and a common one for overzealous young bucs when he may have provided bulletin board scratch for the New England Patriots.
Ramsey guaranteed a victory over the Patriots in Gillette Stadium on Sunday while speaking to thousands of fans at EverBank Field who had gathered to welcome the team home after their 45-42 victory over the Steelers.
The Jags should know better, especially after the Steelers’ Mike Mitchell popped junk, totally overlooking the possibility that they’d lose to the Jags on Sunday. The comment infuriated and obviously motivated Jacksonville in the squad’s shocking upset of the heavily -favored Steelers in the Divisional round.
Ramsey was feeling the crowd and basking in the hype of the moment when he let the funk flow.
“I ain’t got too much to say, but make sure you all bring that same energy out next week and the week after,” Ramsey said into a microphone. “We are going to the Super Bowl, and we are going to win that b****. We are going to win that b****.”
According to ESPN, Ramsey’s teammates said on Monday that what he said was different from what Steelers safety Mitchell and coach Mike Tomlin did. They talked openly weeks ago about playing the Patriots in the AFC title game, and running back Le’Veon Bell sent out a tweet on Saturday night that guaranteed a victory.
“We’re so close [to the Super Bowl] that I think it’s OK to say, ‘Hey, we’re going to do this,'” defensive tackle Malik Jackson said. “I said that in April, so it’s one of those things that I think he believes in himself after the game he just had, locking down one of the best receivers in the game. He’s pretty hyped, and he wants to let everybody know he’s hyped.
We know Ramsey is a trash-popper. Hes been doing it the entire season.
Jalen Ramsey with the potty mouth: “We should’ve blown’em out”
Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey talks after the game about the Seahawks & says they really should’ve blown them out.
In my humble opinion, a team that is 1-10 all-time against New England, 0-7 against Tom Brady and an overwhelming underdog in the AFC Championship game might not want to give the Juggernaut any incentive to go even harder.
The Jags are riding high, but they are in store for an out of body experience, trying to go into Foxboro and handle the Killer Bs for a shot at the Super Bowl. Running their jobs definitely wont give them any advantage, but humility and prayer might.
