Two decades after its launch, the WNBA is finally making it into one of the longest running games in video game history.
Today, Electronic Arts announced that WNBA teams and players will be part of NBA Live 18 when it launches this fall on Xbox One and Playstation 4. This marks the first time that the WNBA’s official teams and players will appear in a video game, which is an amazing moment, especially in light of the issues surrounding inclusion and equal rights in today’s society.
We are extremely proud to partner with the WNBA and the Womens National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) on this groundbreaking occasion, said NBA LIVE Executive Producer Sean OBrien. The WNBA is home to some of the most incredible athletes on the planet, and weve been working hard to integrate them into our game in an authentic and meaningful way. This is only a taste of what we have in store, and look forward to working with the league on more great integrations in the franchise in the future.
