Draymond Green Is His Own Worst Enemy

Draymond Green needs to stop living in an alternate reality. Hes known as a dirty player. His rep is that of an out-of-control player at times. For all of his talents and intangibles, Green is the type of guy that can help you win a title as evidenced by Golden States 2015 and 2017 chips, but hes also the kind of loose cannon that can cost you a three-peat. See his 2016 Game 5 Finals suspension, perhaps his greatest and most unforgivable blunder.

Those are just facts.

Draymond Green – Trash Talking Compilation [HD]

Draymond may put in a crazy amount of effort when he’s on the court…but with a big mouth. Like and Suscribe, ill be posting more videos like this. Just comment below and lemme know which Compilation video i should do next!

The NBA has always had its share of great antagonists, sort of like enforcers in hockey without the green light to cold cock dudes. These aggressive types are often the grit and steel of the team, but their emotional outbursts and confrontational postures also accumulate them record amounts of techs and a bad reputation with the stripes.

Relationships with referees are a large part of the game that a guy like Rasheed Wallace never really perfected during his time in the NBA as one of the most talented big men in the game. They’re a part of the game that labeled Dennis Rodman a victorious villain in the sport. Similarly, Greens multi-faceted arsenal doesn’t extend to having composure.

After the Golden State Warriors’ 115-107 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night, the All-Star forward was asked his thoughts on the $25,000 fine for failing to disengage that he was handed by the league for his role in Friday’s altercation with Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal.

Green didnt seem to initiate the physical confrontation, but when a mild-mannered guy like Beal with no previous reputation for being a troublemaker gets into with the NBAs No. 1 instigator, reputations have a tendency to dictate how the incident is perceived. And Green has a laundry list of incidents that have included kicking players below the belt, cheap shots, flops and the verbal abuse of referees.

So Green accusing the NBA of unfairly targeting him is laughable to many. He released a statement before the buzzer sounded  and then continued to whine to reporters after the game.

An irate Draymond Green to ESPN regarding the altercation with Bradley Beal.

“It came as no surprise to me,” he said. “I was naive enough to think that the first tech [for arguing an offensive foul call] would get rescinded since I said it wasn’t my shoulder. But, silly me to think they’re going to take a tech back from me. I was also naive enough to think they’d say, you know, I got slapped, or whatever I got in the face and then grabbed. I don’t know what else you’re supposed to do at that point. I didn’t even grab him and slam him. I grabbed him and held my ground, and then they slammed me on top of him. What did they say? I continued, or I failed to disengage? How do you disengage at that point? That sounds like we got him, to me. I have never heard that before in my life.”

The NBA has suspended Washington Wizards guard Carrick Felix and forward Markieff Morris for one game for leaving the bench during the altercation between Beal and Green.

It was another aggressive scuffle that Green has been involved in and the NBA is frankly tired of it. In the ’90s, Greens antics would have made him legendary. But in todays no contact, no enemy NBA, its unacceptable.

Rather than accept the punishment, Green is doing what he does best by arguing against his punishment and defending the way he gets down.

“And out in the world, if somebody hits you, you’re allowed to defend yourself. It’s called self-defense,” he said. “If somebody shoots you, you’re allowed to shoot back. Self-defense. I got hit and didn’t even hit back and got fined.

“And then for him to get fined only $50,000 and I get fined $25,000. Oubre came in throwing punches and he gets fined less than me? That just don’t add up. I know [the league is] not the biggest fan of me, and that’s fine, but don’t be so obvious that you’re not the biggest fan of me. That’s just too obvious. So, I think at the end of the day, they’re going to make out who they want to make out to be the bad guy. That’s cool, but be fair across the board.”

“I’m still watching that video over again, trying to figure out what I did wrong,” Green said.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr didn’t agree with the penalties, either.

“I don’t know how you get fined $25,000 for being attacked,” he said. “So, I don’t know. It seemed like maybe there’s some prior reputation to it.”

You think, coach?  Kerr has spent his career copping pleas for Green.

Green left the court ranting about the NBA trying to stop him and people trying to stop him his entire life.

It’s been that way…Theyll never be able to stop me, Green said as he left the court after being ejected.

The NBA doesnt have to stop Green. He does a great job of stopping himself.
