In boxing, styles make for entertaining fights, and this one will test the raw power of Wilder against the unmatched size and mobility of Fury. Wilder won a bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and is America’s only heavyweight champion since 2007. With 39 knockouts in 40 professional fights, including in all seven of his title defenses, Wilder has still been in search of the homegrown respect his younger counterparts like the U.K.’s Anthony Joshua receives from his country

Fury, a former IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight world champion from England and whose family hails from Ireland, is undefeated in 27 professional fights and holds boxing’s prestigious lineal heavyweight title.

Fury (27-0, 19 KOs), 30, ended a two-and-a-half year absence in June when he stopped Sefer Seferi in four rounds. Derailed due to his many problems with alcohol, drugs, and depression, many waited for Fury to get his life together while heavyweights like Joshua and Wilder have re-energized the division. Fury out-pointed Wladimir Klitschko to cinch three world titles in November 2015.

Joshua has said if he is successful against Alexander Povetkin, he would like to fight Wilder in April 2019 for a heavyweight mega fight for the ages.
