De’Aaron Fox Is Balling Harder Than Lonzo Ball

How does it feel to be perhaps the best player in college basketball and be invisible? Or one of the best rookies in the NBA and fans don’t care?

Sacramento Kings guard DeAaron Fox knows the feeling well. Even after he smashed the supposed best player in the Draft in the 2016 NCAA Sweet 16, pouring in a lit 39 points for the University of Kentucky in an 86-75 win over UCLA, while his celebrity opponent Lonzo Ball scored just 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting and had four turnovers, Ball remained the talk of the town.

Even after running sprint circles around the Big Baller Brands ace, LaVar Ball’s mouth still rang louder than Foxs game. And most folks just dismissed it as things that happen in college.

If the people don’t respect Fox’s gangster yet, Lonzo surely does. When asked who the fastest point guard he’s faced was, Ball replied, Fastest point guard? Probably D-Fox.”

Ball was the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft and Fox dropped to 5th, right into Sacramentos lap. The Kings are a franchise that has been feenin for a superstar and a player who can be the foundation for a return to competitiveness.

From the looks of things, they may have found one in Fox, who is not only a locomotive on the hardwood, but a dynamic , enthusiastic player who comes out each night with a chip on his shoulder. The chip that inflates in size, every time Twitter, ESPN and other media outlets speak the name of Lonzo Ball before his.

Many players have come out of college as top dog picks, only to be outplayed by lesser-promoted players once they got to the NBA. So far, in their brief NBA careers, Fox has performed better and has ignited Sac-Town and its fans.

De’Aaron Fox is just the 6th rookie ever to average at least 15 ppg, 5 apg, 5 rpg, & 1 spg in his first 4 career games. #SacramentoProud

Fox held steady with those numbers in his fifth NBA career game on Thursday night by scoring 14 points and dishing five assists in a tough 114-106 loss to New Orleans, who played without Anthony Davis but with an inspired DeMarcus Cousins, who dropped 41 in his return to Sac-Town.

Foxs get-down may come as a surprise to some fans, but the 6-foot-4 guard out of Cypress Lakes, Texas always thought he was the better than Zo. In June, he told Sports Illustrated straight up, Im the best player in the draft.

Hes not afraid to diss LaVar either.

De’Aaron Fox Slams LaVar Ball, Says He’s Best Player In 2017 NBA Draft | SI NOW | Sports Illustrated

De’Aaron Fox thinks he’s the best player in this year’s NBA Draft, but he’s still a typical teenager. In an SI Now feature, the Kentucky guard explains why you don’t want to play him in video games, the target LaVar Ball puts on Lonzo Ball, and more.

Five games into the NBA season, Fox might be right about his proclamation, even if Lonzo gets the prime time games every night. The Rookie of the Year voting is hardly in the bag for Ball. Its definitely not the one-man race some Ball groupies make it out to be.

Unless youre talking about Fox or the Sixers’ Ben Simmons running away with it.
