Black Panther Does It Again And Now Approaches Billion Dollar Status

Last week “Black Panther” opened in almost every market worldwide and everyone went crazy, leading to box office records and people to embrace the Wakanda craze.

Well this past weekend the film did it again, smashing more records and moving T’Challa and company closer to billionaire status. With a weekend haul at an estimated $108 million, Black Panther has now grossed an estimated $700 million worldwide and became the fourth film in history to pass the $100 million mark in its second weekend, following on the heels of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Jurassic World,” and “The Avengers.” Even more impressive is the fact that its second weekend haul is now the second highest second weekend for a film, only trailing behind only “Force Awakens.”

In its tenth day of release, the film has now closed on the $400 million mark domestically and still hasn’t opened in China or Japan. It also showed only a 47% drop in its second weekend, which is a much smaller drop than other Marvel films such as “Captain America: Civil War” and “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which were closer to 60%.

With a 97% score review on Rotten Tomatoes and fans flocking to see it multiple times, expect Black Panther to crush the billion dollar mark shortly and to not slow down anytime soon.
