Ana Julaton Makes The Main Card In Bellator Debut

Bellator 185 was hit with more bad news as former light heavyweight champion Liam McGeary (12-2) suffered an injury and his fight against replacement opponent Bubba McDaniel (28-10) has been removed from the card on Oct. 20 at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

The exact nature of McGearys injury is unknown, but its severe enough that the former Bellator light heavyweight champion wont be able to fight according to Bellator. McGeary’s injury compounded an already evolving card where McGeary’s original opponent, Muhammed Lawal (21-6) had been forced to pull out of his light-heavyweight matchup with McGeary (12-2) at Bellator 185 due to an undisclosed injury.

The scratch had opened up a main card slot and former two-time boxing champion turned mixed martial artist, Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton (2-2) has made the cut. Her Bellator debut against Lisa “Insane” Blaine (1-0) will now be featured as the first fight on Spike TV.

Julaton, co-host of the popular TSL Power Hour podcast, made her MMA debut in the ONE FC organization in 2014 and fought 4 times under the banner. She hadn’t fought an MMA bout since 2015 after a loss to Irina Mazepa. Julaton has told The Shadow League that she plans on “still boxing professionally” and looks to do so during her time with Bellator.

Notable boxer turned MMA fighter, Heather Hardy (1-0) is also on the card and Julaton has told The Shadow League that she would like to fight Hardy on both fronts. This fight against Blaine could be a step in that direction.
