Sportscastr Live Pre-Fight Video Chat: Boxing Overdrive This Weekend

When Premier Boxing Champions decides to do it big, they really do it big and this weekend is the perfect testament to that. Three championship match-ups in the super welterweight division will take place this Saturday at the Barclays Center in one of the best cards that has come in a long time.

Our own Rhett Butler goes live Thursday at 1230pm EST on SportsCastr Live to break down this weekend’s power packed card. Watch it below and hit him up.

WBA (Super) and IBO super welterweight champion, Erislandy Lara (24-2-2) has held his WBA belt since 2013 after knocking out tough-as-nails Alfredo Angulo in the 10th round. Since then Lara has only lost once, in a catchweight non-title bout, to Canelo Alvarez via split decision but has dominated his last five opponents.

His next opponent, Terrell Gausha is an undefeated Olympian who has the distinction of defeating National Golden Gloves Champion Jesse Hart back in 2012 during the USA Championship Tournament. Lara will definitely be the biggest test of Gausha’s career.

Also, on the card is WBC super welterweight champion, Jermell Charlo (29-0), one-half of the feared Charlo brothers from Houston. Charlo has knocked out his last three opponents and is one of the most feared fighters in the division. He faces Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (18-0) who knocked out his last two opponents.

IBF super welterweight champion, Jarret Hurd (20-0) is wasting no time after securing his first belt earlier this February. Hurd has finished his last six opponents and is the quiet storm rolling out from the DMV. His opponent is none other than battle-tested, former champion, Austin Trout (30-3), who is by no means an easy task.

Trout is the former WBA super welterweight champion and has fought everyone. His losses to Erislandy Lara, Canelo Alvarez and, Jermall Charlo are respectable and Trout has never been knocked out. When Jermall Charlo vacated his IBF belt and moved to middleweight, Trout entered the picture as a worthy opponent to Hurd for whom this will be the toughest opponent Hurd has ever faced.
