Southern Beats Prairie View In SWAC Tournament Title Game

Southern University claimed the SWAC tournament championship with a 45-44 win against Prairie View. Led by Derick Beltran's 13 points and seven boards, the top-seeded Jaguars punched their ticket into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2006.

Prairie View didn't exacty go down without swinging. Southern was up  by seven with just over a minute left to play. The Jaguars had pushed ahead of the Panthers with what appeared to be a decisive 7-0 run in the waning minutes of the game. Then Prairie View got fresh with them, knocked down some jumpers and forced turnovers with increased pressure.

The Panthers even had a chance at a game-winning shot with 10 seconds left to play. But Jourdan DeMuynck made a move in the lane and lost control of the ball, ruining what could've potentially been a wild comeback for Prairie View.
