Roc Nation Athlete Romelu Returns To Chelsea For Record Deal

Professional London-based soccer club Chelsea, has signed Belgium striker and Roc Nation client Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee of £97 million ($135 million), 10 years after he made his debut for the club back in 2011.

Lukaku’s signing video has gone viral on the internet and features highlights of the footballer from 2011 and 2021 set to Jay-Z’s (Roc Nation’s founder) song “Public Service Announcement.”

Jay-Z started his agency Roc Nation Sports back in 2013. His company originally signed American sports athletes from a wide range of sports.

Roc Nation Sports began venturing into the world of football in 2015 – and in 2018, Jay-Z signed Romelu Lukaku, and the partnership began.

Other well-known footballers signed to Roc Nation Sports include Romelu’s fellow countryman Kevin De Bruyne, Marcus Rashford, Axel Witsel, Wilfried Zaha, Tyrone Mings.

Furthermore, Jay-Z and Lukaku’s relationship goes beyond business.

Jay-Z stated while speaking about Lukaku to Gazzetta dello Sport, “Everything Romelu does has a purpose: he knows there’s always an objective in front of him and you need to do everything to achieve it. You can see he’s really attached to his roots.”

The Belgian striker first joined Chelsea on a £15 million transfer deal in 2011. He then joined Everton in 2014 for £35 million euros after a loan deal. Then in 2018 – Manchester United signed him for £84 million before he was sold to Inter Milan for £74 million, where he won the a Serie A title this past season – first time in 11 years.

Now at Chelsea, Romelu is expected to earn £250,000 per week. While at Inter Milan – he was earning roughly around £200,000 per week. His weekly wages will put him in the upper echelon of top football earners in the world.

I, alike many Chelsea fans throughout the global – are very excited to have Lukaku back at Stamford Bridge.
