Days after the Chargers gave San Diego the stiff-arm and announced that they were bolting for Los Angeles, the Raiders are reportedly planning to file relocation paperwork with the NFL to begin the first steps of their move from Oakland to Las Vegas.
Just like the situation with the Chargers, the Raiders move is all about stadium funding. A Nevada oversight committee approved a $750 million public funding plan for a Las Vegas Raiders stadium back in September.
According to the Bay Area News Group, the Raiders have informed league officials “they have commitments from Goldman Sachs to finance a proposed $1.9 billion Las Vegas stadium project.”

Despite logistical hurdles around the financial and development aspects of a new stadium in Las Vegas and Raiders owner Mark Davis needing 23 votes from the other league owners to formally make the move, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before the NFL will gain a foothold in the Nevada desert.
The owners could vote on the issue at the upcoming league meetings in March. Stay tuned.
