Classic Pokemon Games Taught Us Hard Lessons At An Early Age

Which starter Pokemon do I pick: Charmander, Bulbasaur or Squirtle?!

Pokemon has been in the homes, eyes, and hearts of kids all over the world since the ’90s.

Pokemon created a virtual universe for children to own, understand and embrace without the intrusion of parents. The popular franchise left many of us with one of the hardest decisions to make in our childhood.

Which starter Pokemon do I pick: Charmander, Bulbasaur or Squirtle?!

Nintendo recently announced not only a new set of games but also brand new Starter Pokemon for the younger generation to pick from.

Yesterday, Nintendo released info on the upcoming Pokemon Games for Switch called Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Galar is the new region this game will take place in. The location in the game draws inspiration from the United Kingdom. As some of you know, with each new generation of Pokemon games come a new trio set to pick from in the beginning.

Players will face the hardest decision of their lives once again. Scorbunny, who’s element is fire, Sobble, who’s greatest strength is water, or Grookey, who is just as green as the grass element it harnesses its power from.

Although there isn’t a lot of information out on these new characters considering the news just dropped yesterday. Gamers will still feel the 23 year-long anxiety of deciding one elemental creature to help catch ’em all.

In Pokemon Red, Green, and Blue the anxiety was felt when we had to pick the original elemental creatures. It was felt in Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal when we had the options of Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. And now, the stressful process has been passed down to the latest set of gamers who are embarking on this lifelong journey.

But, we should all cherish and embrace this difficult decision. One you will never forget no matter how old you are. Because this franchise isn’t just a game, these characters aren’t just random creatures, they are our childhood.

And quite frankly, I’ll take this over worrying about taxes…but that’s a different story for later.
